James W. Inskeep, Esq.

Mr. Inskeep, founder of Inskeep IP Group, practices in the Torrance office. He specializes in IP counseling for all aspects of IP law, including litigation, prosecution, strategic planning, licensing and due diligence. His practice emphasizes medical device technology. He obtained a B.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1983 and a J.D. from the Washington College of Law at the American University in Washington D.C. in 1989. Mr. Inskeep is a former patent examiner. Mr. Inskeep started his career as an associate at Burns Doane Swecker and Mathis LLP in Alexandria, Virginia and then joined Poms Smith Lande & Rose PC in Los Angeles in 1994. That firm merged with Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly of Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1997. Mr. Inskeep was a partner in the Newport Beach, California office of Oppenheimer until 2003 when Inskeep IP Group was founded.

Charles E. Fredericks, Esq.

Mr. Fredericks practices in the Torrance office and specializes in patent prosecution, infringement evaluations and IP consulting.  With over a decade-and-a-half experience, Mr. Fredericks has focused his practice on a wide range of medical devices, as well as most types of mechanical technology. He was granted a B.S. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Vermont in 1999 and a J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 2002. He is licensed to practice law in California, Massachusetts, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

David J. McKinley, Esq.

Mr. McKinley practices in the Minneapolis office and works in all areas of patent prosecution, litigation preparation, and due diligence. For over a decade Mr. McKinley has concentrated his practice on medical device technology, including all types of stents, prosthetic valves, ablation instruments, spinal prosthetics, and anti- arrhythmia devices and techniques. Mr. McKinley started his career as an associate at Moore and Hansen in Minneapolis in 1998 and then joined the Minneapolis office of Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly in 2000. Mr. McKinley left Oppenheimer to establish a Minneapolis presence for the Inskeep IP group in 2005. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1999 after serving in the U.S. Navy for nearly seven years as a Surface Warfare Officer. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University in 1990. Mr. McKinley is a registered U.S. Patent attorney.

Shane S. Swanson, Esq.

Mr. Swanson works closely with the executive teams, engineers and scientists of start-up and established technology driven companies focusing on capturing and leveraging the value of the essential inventions and intellectual property that is core to the organization. He guides clients through the process of identifying and implementing patent and other intellectual property strategies based upon a comprehensive understanding of the client’s innovations and business objectives. Mr. Swanson currently works with clients developing medical device, robotic, vehicle, micro-electromechanical, optical, and polymer chemistry technologies. He has extensive experience in all areas of patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions, litigation preparation and support, licensing, and due diligence.

Prior to joining Inskeep IP Group, Mr. Swanson served as an in-house Patent Attorney and a Patent Agent managing IP portfolios and out-side IP counsel for start-up and established semiconductor test, microscopy imaging, and biotechnology companies. He received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Washington in 1994 and a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2007. Mr. Swanson is licensed to practice law in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the State of Washington and has been registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 2002.

Peyali Chowdhury, Ph.D

Mrs. Chowdhury is a registered patent agent and practices in our Torrance office.  She has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Geneva, Switzerland and has over 10 years of graduate and postdoctoral research experience from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, the University of Kansas, Lawrence, and the University of Geneva, Switzerland.  Mrs. Chowdhury has particular expertise in organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organometalic chemistry, formulations, small molecule synthesis, methodology development, polymer chemistry, and catalysis.
